Val D’Arzino
Val d’Arzino is located in the Carnic Prealpi, in the province of Pordenone.
It is crossed by the Arzino stream and includes the municipalities of Vito d’Asio, Forgaria in Friuli and Pinzano al Tagliamento, in which, near Pontaiba, the stream flows into the river Tagliamento.
The main tourist resources of the valley consist of naturalistic heritage, particular beauty and historical heritage. A place among all that has been recognized internationally as one of the most beautiful wild beaches in Europe is Cerdevol Curnila, located between Pielungo and San Francesco. Following the SP1 and reached the junction leading to Pielungo, keep the right and after 200 meters you reach the parking lot with the inscription “Curnila”. You get to the beach by taking the path from the parking lot to the creek. This small oasis in the Pordenone mountains has wandered Europe so much to be included in the top 10 of the wild continent’s beaches. There are also some specialized and prestigious magazines such as the Financial Times.
“A few meters from the road, the river Arzino descends on a series of waterfalls, surrounded by beech forests and numerous swimming pools for diving lovers. Few kilometers down the valley there are fascinating gorges where you can swim between white rocks and tanks perfect for snorkeling. “The water is incredibly clear and blue. A huge rocky slope provides a place to sunbathe next to a deep swimming pool.”
But the splendid Val D’Arzino has other treasures to discover: in the commune of Vito d’Asio, in the hamlet Anduins, the sulfur springs are to be noticed on Barquet rio; the Cave of the Aganas, mythological figures which, according to local tradition, were beautiful male witches with palmed feet; the Green Grotto of Pradis; the Forza dell’Arzino excavated by the power of water from Anduins to Pielungo which for 11 km offers splendid panoramic views along the Regina Margherita road and finally the Falouca de Anduins, an equipped rock gymnasium where you can climb on 129 different routes. For hikers there are trails to Vito d’Asio and in the hamlet S. Francesco, but also in the town of Pinzano al Tagliamento there are different and we mark the new ring of the CAI, inaugurated for a few months.
